artist’s critique.

Grant is showing me a doodle he did for a tattoo idea. (See link.) We’re both laughing at it because its hurriedly done and fairly poor.

Grant: It’s just a silly drawing that Uncle Grant did. It’s not very good.

Beatrix: (long pause as she examines it) I can draw very well.

lamb of god.

Beatrix: Why don’t we go to that building? (pointing as we walk)

Me: Because that’s a church.

Beatrix: What’s a “church”?

Me: Do you know what “God” is?

Beatrix: No. What “God” is?

Me: Some people believe that someone called God created the universe and the Earth and all the things on it – you know, like dirt, trees, animals and people. Everything we have here. I don’t really believe that, so I don’t go to Church. It’s somewhere for people that believe in God. Everyone believes in different things.

Beatrix: (pauses thoughtfully) I just believe in myself.
